COMPETITION CATEGORIES
There are two categories of competition this year:
1. Scholarly Shorts
A 3-minute (maximum) short on any topic of scholarly research or intellectual inquiry.
2. Scholarly Serials
A series of two or three 3-minute (maximum) shorts on any topic of scholarly research or intellectual inquiry. Each segment should be coherent on its own, but the segments should together form a well-integrated whole.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
The deadline for submissions is: 5 PM (EDT), Friday, March 29, 2013.
Shorts should be submitted online directly to our site here.
COMPETITION RULES
Submissions must observe two simple, but important rules:
- Time limit: scholarly shorts (and segments of scholarly serials) must be no longer than three minutes. Longer submissions may not be considered for prizes and the screening festival.
-
Copyright: Because these shorts may be featured in a publically accessible site, any material used in the composition of the short (images, music, videos) must meet one of the following criteria
- the copyright to the materials belong to the creator(s) of the short
- the materials have been declared to be in the public domain, or under a Creative Commons license that permits use
- explicit permission for their use has been granted by the copyright owner

1) Clarity of presentation
2) Originality of ideas
3) Compelling nature of argumentation
4) Effective use of media
