 2.     Scholarly Serials

A series of two or three 3-minute (maximum) shorts on any topic of scholarly research or intellectual inquiry. Each segment should be coherent on its own, but the segments should together form a well-integrated whole.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

The deadline for submissions is: 5 PM (EDT), Friday, March 29, 2013.

Shorts should be submitted online directly to our site  here.

COMPETITION RULES

Submissions must observe two simple, but important rules:

  1. Time limit: scholarly shorts (and segments of scholarly serials) must be no longer than three minutes. Longer submissions may not be considered for prizes and the screening festival.
  2. Copyright: Because these shorts may be featured in a publically accessible site, any material used in the composition of the short (images, music, videos) must meet one of the following criteria
    1. the copyright to the materials belong to the creator(s) of the short
    2. the materials have been declared to be in the public domain, or under a Creative Commons license that permits use
    3. explicit permission for their use has been granted by the copyright owner

2) Originality of ideas

4) Effective use of media
